Why Choose This Lesson?
- Visual Warm-Up & Vocabulary Practice
Students begin by matching sentences to pictures, learning ability words such as swim, play football, sing, dance, ride a bike, draw, cook, and play the guitar. - Clear Grammar Rules
Learners discover how to form sentences with can + verb to talk about abilities, supported by examples and practice activities. They also notice common mistakes and correct them. - Listening & Reading for Context
Engaging listening and short reading texts show different characters talking about what they can do. Learners complete matching, sentence-ordering, and true/false activities to check understanding. - Speaking for Interaction
Students talk in pairs about their own abilities using I can / You can and react naturally to their partner’s answers (e.g., “Cool!”, “Nice!”, “Great!”). - Writing for Practice
To consolidate learning, students write 4–5 sentences about their partner’s abilities using can. This reinforces grammar and vocabulary from the speaking activity and helps learners transfer spoken language into written form.
